The NAFI Florida Region began with two boys programs in DeFuniak Springs: the Intensive Halfway House, a 15-bed program and the Serious Habitual Offender Program (SHOP), a 25-bed program. Both programs continue to be a beacon of light for troubled youth. A major milestone for the DeFuniak Springs programs was the construction of a $3,500,000.00 building with state of the art technology. Both programs have been lauded throughout the state for providing superior services to male youth.

The Monticello New Life program opened its doors to 30 young ladies in 1999. This residential program continues to grow and is being recognized throughout the state as offering solid gender-specific treatment. The community has a very strong normative culture, and offers educational, pre-vocational, and life skills training to young women based on their gender-specific needs.
