NAFI/NFI provides both residential and community-based support and services for children and adults with developmental disabilities and/or autism.

For adults in Massachusetts, we operate the Supportive Living Project for individuals referred by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Retardation. These individuals are living on their own in the community, and need services to help them develop independent living and community skills in supported residential setting of their own choosing. NAFI/NFI has developed a flexible program that provides services tailored to each individual's needs and preferences, based on the principles of empowerment, choice, building from strengths, and dignity of success.

For children and adolescents with developmental disabilities, we provide group home care that helps them reach their individual potential in the areas of learning and community living. Our Tress Road group home in Connecticut serves young people with cognitive limitations and severe medical needs in conjunction with the Department of Children and Families. NAFI/NFI is presently developing additional group home settings in Connecticut for children and adolescents who need individual attention in a caring, supportive environment. Children at these group homes attend school in the community or at alternative schools, and learn community living skills tailored to their individualized abilities and needs.
